Girlboss Bingeworthy TV

Team Contribution

Winter is coming, which means couch snuggles, lazy Saturdays, and bingeing shows for hours on end with extra large cups of hot cocoa. Bring it on!!

Here at the TN HQ, we love to binge watch our favorite girlbosses on screen. On the days when life feels overwhelming, you can take a look into the lives of these female icons, some fictional, some based on true stories, to remind yourself what you are truly capable of.

Here are just a few of our favorite shows and movies that never fail to bring out the inner girlboss inside us — and yes, you have permission to binge stream with us this weekend.

GirlBoss (Netflix)

This show follows the journey of an entrepreneur on her way to building a fashion empire. Hustle and incredible fashion… yes please! We all know the real story is filled with twists and turns, but the empire she builds and the vision behind it all - well, we are hella inspired. (Sophia, if you’re reading, we’d LOVE to feature you on the blog one day!) 😉

Parks and Recreation (Netflix)

An incredible cast and jokes that will make you laugh so hard your stomach hurts, Parks and Rec is the perfect show to watch at the end of the day to unwind. Leslie Knope (played by the goddess Amy Poehler) is iconic for her determination and dedication to achieving her dream while working in a small town’s parks and recreation department.

RBG (Netflix)

Throughout her life, RBG opened countless doors for women in all professions — she was a true hero. This documentary provides an inside look into her life story — and it hits home even harder now that she’s gone.

The Bold Type (Hulu)

Three millennials working at a women's mag in NYC? Basically, Tiffany’s teenage dreams coming true!

How to Get Away with Murder (Netflix)

A prestigious law professor gets tied up in a murder plot. There is mystery, romance, and no shortage of woman power in this show.

Agent Carter (Disney+)

This marvel series tells the life of Peggy Carter, Captain America’s girlfriend, after the war. She went from being able to call the shots in World War II to being consistently disrespected by the male agents she now works with. She becomes a secret agent fighting atomic threats and defies all the gender norms perpetuated in that era. Grab the popcorn!

Scandal (Netflix)

We love seeing a woman in power and following her dreams, and Olivia Pope in Scandal does just that. Pope, a former media consultant to the president, takes her career to the next level and opens her own crisis-management firm.

Sex and the City (Hulu)

You know we had to include SATC! The four leading ladies are undeniably themselves and, in my opinion, many of them embody what a girlboss should be. An aspiring writer who ends up with a best-selling novel, the head of huge PR firm, and a high-powered attorney inching her way to partner? Sure it’s not very realistic at times, but the follow-your-dreams sentiment is there, and it’s a blast to watch their shenanigans along the way.

Glow (Netflix)

An aspiring actress in L.A. finds herself in the wrestling ring. What?! The show focuses on issues women faced in the ‘80s (and continue to face) like equal pay, work-life balance, and misogyny.

The Crown (Netflix)

The Crown focuses on the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. She is known for her composure and powerful reign as queen. Plus, who doesn’t love some British royals drama?

Morning Show (Apple TV)

The cast speaks for itself, amiright? Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston radiate confidence and power in this show. We’re glued to our seats.

Dear White People (Netflix)

This show follows a group of students of color at a predominantly white school. The students deal with biases, racial and gender inequalities throughout the show. Through brutal honesty and comedy, viewers get a look into these students’ lives.
