5 Favorite Branding Apps

If you aren’t a graphic designer - or even if you think you don’t have a creative bone in your body - these apps will help you brand your company with ease. Because let’s face it, outsourcing every graphic can get expensive, and our need for graphics for social media, proposals, workshops, and more seems neverending in today’s online landscape. It’s helpful to have a few DIY tricks up your sleeves. I also think mastering these easy apps will elevate you from your competition, so dig in, play around, and happy branding!

  1.  Canva – for creating designs for web or print, like graphics for Pinterest, Instagram quotes, posters, Facebook covers, and more. Pro tips: Make 3-4 templates, then swap out your imagery, headlines, etc. You can even hire a designer to make the templates for you if your standards are higher than your skills. Pay for the pro account ( ($12.95/mo) and you can resize any creation in a snap, so turning an e-book cover into an Instagram post and a flyer is a breeze. With the pro account you can also upload your fonts, logos and save your brand colors to a virtual brand kit, making it easy to stay on brand. (Desktop + App)

  2. Mojo – for animated Instagram stories. Recording in real-time and showing us your daily life is great, but sometimes your followers love a little pizazz! The templates are easy to use and very intuitive. Upgrade to the pro version ($39.99/year) to upload your own fonts, and don’t forget to use your Hex colors to stay on brand. I have my brand colors saved in a Note on my phone so that it’s easy to copy/paste on the go. The pro account also allows you to resize your creations, so converting your design from an Instagram story to an Instagram post is easy-breezy.

  3.  Planoly – for planning my Instagram content and creating an aesthetically pleasing feed. Sign up using our unique link for 50% off your first month! (Desktop + App)

  4.  A Color Story – for editing images and creating a cohesive look and feel. I use a few of the filters from the Flashes of Delight package, and I also love playing with the Texture effects package. It’s important to create consistency in the coloring, look and feel of your imagery to establish an easily recognizable brand, so determine an aesthtic (cool vs warm, lots of blues vs poppy orange), find a few filters, and stick with it.

  5. Unsplash - for stunning, free photography, gifted by the world’s most generous photographers. Especially helpful if you are just starting out and need high-quality imagery for your social feed, website, digital proposals, etc. In fact, the image you see up above is from Unsplash! I added my own personal flair to customize it, so thanks Helena Hertz for providing such a beautiful image. (Credit isn’t required but is highly encouraged.) (Desktop + App)
